The TEFL Course team at Island TEFL are dedicated, enthusiastic, and committed to producing high quality TEFL/TESOL teachers. Our aim is to ensure that you receive the best, most comprehensive and practical skills available to kick-start your new career as a TEFL trained teacher.

Our highly skilled trainers have a wealth of experience between them, having lived and worked in Thailand and Asia for many years. Our Lead Trainer strives to ensure that every trainee receives the best possible TEFL training available, using current methodologies and practical teaching skills.  Our class sizes are small, ensuring that each individual trainee receives maximum attention and time, and alleviating that feeling of being "swamped" in a large group.

Island TEFL also has a team of sessional lecturers who provide their expertise to specific input sessions throughout the course. We work closely with Samui schools and the local business community to ensure that your teaching practice are effective and valuable for both you and your students.

Qualified and experienced EFL teachers provide teaching practice observation and feedback, ensuring that support and advice is given as you progress through each stage of the course.

Island TEFL staff are there to ensure that all your needs are met. We assist all trainees with accommodation recommendations and bookings, general information and advice whilst on Koh Samui. A fun-filled, friendly atmosphere is encouraged at all times.  Assistance will be given to all trainees wishing to obtain teaching employment in Thailand.

Island TEFL’s Course Director, Sue Howlett, has over 20 years experience within the Ministry of Education in Australia, holds a B.A. in Education Business Management, a Diploma in TESL, and has been teaching EFL on Koh Samui since moving here from Australia.  Sue and her team are dedicated to making your TEFL experience not only rewarding and challenging, but also fun and inspirational.  Ensuring that each trainee is given maximum opportunities to reach their full potential is a major focus of the Mission Statement of Island TEFL.
